I was watching Rick Steins food heroes earlier on, amazing food, made me want to cook up a storm in kitchen. He made an excellent statement about shooting and fishing that I couldn’t agree more with.

Fishing and shooting are part of the fabric of the great British countryside. It is in our blood to catch food to eat. When shoot pheasants or catch a marvellous Bass for the table, I want to get in the kitchen and really do it justice.

Hear, hear! It’s so nice to see people voicing a traditional opinion on television. These days there is far too much censoring done by the PC brigade. While I absolutely don’t agree with killing for sport, I wholehearted agree with killing for the pot. I am a fisherman and will always take a good fish home for the table. There is nothing more satisfying that catching and eating your own dinner. It always tastes so much better.

The group he was shooting with also bread pheasants, to restock the ones that they shot. A nice touch, but not really necessary in my book if you only take enough for you and yours to eat. Generally populations of game are easily able to sustain themselves when they are hunted without greed.

With summer quickly approaching I am very much looking forward to fishing in the summer evenings with a fresh mackerel on the BBQ and the lines out in hope of a lovely Bass for a special meal.

Now does that suck or what! I don’t even think they looked at it! They have a great product, I think it is about time they upgraded their support staff!

Fair enough I am trying something pretty new, but even so, that level of support just doesn’t cut it. To top it off the reply was returned within 5 minutes of me sending my email!

I had the pleasure of meeting Richard Moross (moo.com) at the Future of Web Apps conference in London the other week. Even though his presentation was a little rigid, he was reading off paper, it was still very interesting. Chatting to him afterwards he seemed a fairly laid back kinda bloke. He certainly did a better job on stage than I would have!

He offered out a load of free moo cards, in exchange for one of his. Everyone of his cards had a different picture, each with a story. A man with a great amount of passion for his work, which clearly shows though in his enthusiasm for moo and in the quality of their product (the ones he showed me). I am just going to order my free cards, so I’ll let you know if they are any good!

I am currently putting the finishing touches to a plug-in of sorts for the WordPress admin area. It is a couple of javascripts to allow you to swap out the built in WordPress editor for an xstandard editor. You will be able to switch back and forth as you wish without re-loading the page.

Xstandard produces standards compliant xhtml mark-up, though you do need a downloadable plug-in. It’s been my editor of choice for some time now.

Have a look at xstandard.com for more info.

Leave a comment if you would like me to email you when it’s ready.
